Last week I picked up the L.A.youth Magazine at a Neighborhood Council meeting and I came across the “Traveling Green” article. Youth between the ages of 14-18 took on a 7 day challenge to travel by any mode of transportation except the car.
The article was very inspiring. Even though there were days when the kids were “let down” by the MTA system, I believe that these kids will become the new voice to make Los Angeles more ridable.
And as Sylvana said: “Why sit in the lonely passenger’s seat when I could choose any free seat I wanted on a bus? Why listen to the car radio when I could watch the news, or even cooking and gardening shows, on a Rapid?”

And together with our Youth setting the trends for the new cool, Metro just launched some well produced TV spots to promote alternative transportation. And these spots are not bad at all! The people look good, it’s fast paced, and it’s funny.
Check them out here:
I hope you will set the challenge for yourself as well. If you do, please let me know how it went. Be kind to the Planet! – Go Metro, ride your bike or walk!
See you on the streets!

Wow!
I am away from home for school, but seeing these ads makes me miss LA even more! It is so wonderful that the city is working hard to promote other means of transportation besides the car! I can’t wait to come home and bike the streets again!
