Monday, January 18th is Martin Luther King Day. Cassandra Pruett, the Outreach Coordinator of the East Hollywood NC, organized a Tree Care event and the community is going out to Edgemont St. to take care of the trees they planted two years ago.
Since I’m involved with the East Hollywood Neighborhood Council, I will be there to help mulch, trim and water the trees.
The forecast is predicting rain for Monday but I’m actually looking forward to working in the rain. Southern California is in it’s third year of drought and I’m thankful for any rainfall that we get.
I hope you will join us for the few hours out in the rain. Trees are not only beautifying a neighborhood but they also clean the air and the soil.
I strongly believe, that if we had more beautiful trees on our streets, more people would get out and walk to the neighborhood stores. They would be visually stimulated and they would be protected from the heat in the summer.
