All artists are welcome to participate, there is space to build altars and papel picado!
(Papel picado means “punched paper” in Spanish. Papel picado also describes the traditional folk art
used in Mexico to decorate altars, tables, ceilings and plazas during festivals.)

    I think it is so great that the Mi Alma Courtyard show is happening this year. Art is such a powerful way for people to express their feelings, especially around a holiday that is related to the loss of a loved one. Center for the Psychology of Women in Echo Park has written some cool stuff about building a Day of the Dead alter, and art therapy in the grieving process. You can check it out here:
