How to Celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd

April 14th, 2008 · No Comments

Have you thought of riding the metro but can’t find the right time and day? Earth Day seems like the perfect opportunity. There will be plenty of non-car related events and non-car accessible places to go to.

Buy yourself a day pass for only $5 and explore Los Angeles on all it’s bus routes and all the Metro Red Line, Gold Line, Orange Line and Blue Line destinations. Here are a few suggestions:

  • 10 am - attend the opening ceremony of Earth Day at the Wilshire Center all day celebration - FREE
  • 12 noon - Stop by Union Station to see and hear the band Canon - FREE
  • 8 pm - LADIES ONLY - join GOGA at 8 pm at Scoops for a fast paced 25-30 mile ride around town - FREE
  • 8 pm - See CARTOON DUMP - The Worst Cartoons Ever, with Mystery Science Tehatre’s Frank Conniff at the Steve Allen Theatre on Hollywood Blvd (west of Vermont) via Red Line or Bus - $5 through Goldstar
  • 8 pm - join Join former UN Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter as he launches a work in progress theatrical production “Waging Peace: The Art of War for the Antiwar at the Hayworth Theatre via Purple Line or Bus - $7.50 via Goldstar

Pick and choose. Happy Car Free and Earth Day to you all! I hope you will be inspired to take the Metro, your bike or walk after this day of exploring and adventure.

I welcome your event suggestions and I will post it if it’s accessible via public transportation. Please include what bus or train stops at your venue and if there is anywhere to lock up bikes if people should arrive via two wheels.
