bikerack1Me: An LA Cyclist

You: An Inverted U Bike Rack

I thought I could count on you. I was there. I thought you’d be waiting for me. I looked and looked and you were nowhere to be found. I asked and nobody had seen you. How could you leave me hanging like that?

This is getting old. I always end up having to depend on others and it’s just not the same. A tree, a signpost, once in a while another bike. I’ve even tasted the illicit thrill of locking my bike to a parking meter and risking the wrath of the LADOT. All temporary solutions.

But know this, there is no substitute for the confidence I experience when I see you and know that I will soon be leaning my bike against you, savoring the sound of my lock clicking closed and knowing that my bike is secure. Then I forget the others, I forgive you for being so elusive and difficult to find.

Inverted U Bike Rack, you’re perfect! You’re cheap, you’re simple, and if there were more of you, I’d grow confident that I could ride anywhere in this city, knowing that you’d be there waiting for me at the end of my trip.

I hope to see more of you on the Streets!

Are we seriously not supposed to lock our bikes to parking meters? They’re the best widely available bike racks out there as far as I can tell!

Yep, it’s against the law :-(
