National Bicycle Greenway 2005 Mayors’ Ride

July 13th, 2005 · No Comments

On Monday, July 18, 2005 Stephen and I (Enci) will ride from the steps of the Los Angeles City Hall to the steps of the Santa Barbara City Hall as part of the National Bicycle Greenway 2005 Mayors’ Ride. The ride is a relay that will have left all four corners of the United States and will have visited 52 major cities before it ends in San Francisco on July 31, 2005.

The purpose of the ride is to call attention to the National Bicycle Greenway’s mission to create safe cycling conditions to and from cities as well as within them. The National Bicycle Greenway is envisioned as a nationwide network of interconnected bike friendly roads and bicycle pathways that will connect cyclists to major cities throughout the US. The NBG is dedicated to developing a standard for cycle-safe thruways that enhances the travel experience of the transportational cyclist.

Chris at Hollywood Pro Bicycles assisted us with getting ready. This is going to be a fun ride! I’m so excited! Check out the NBG website and read their vision statement, volunteer, donate, or just dust off your bikes and start cycling a couple of errands a week :-)  We will meet the Mayor of Los Angeles at 2 p.m on Monday the 18th for a photo-op and we’ll also meet the Mayor of Santa Barbara at around 2 p.m. in Santa Barbara on the 20th of July.

If you’re in the neighborhood, come and join us for this wonderful cause.
