Two months have already passed and we are riding again to the Bicycle Advisory Committee. (Even though not many on the Committee are cyclists and not much advising is going on, we just have to accept their name for the time being.)
I couldn’t attend the June meeting but I heard it was quite an experience trying to get through security (a group of cyclists always prompts immediate attention from any authority and of course the security immediately tightens.)
The meeting according to those who attended went as usual. The DOT advised the committee members, (as opposed to the other way around) and the public was allowed to speak at the end of the meeting when only about a 1/3 of the committee members remained.
(1/3 of the Committee never even shows up but they like to have their names on the committee since they heard that being a cyclist = hooligan, and the being one of the hooligans is the new cool. Oh, yes, and they get special attention.)
So saddle up my friends and join us on this months meeting. We are meeting at the Santa Monica/Vermont Red Line station at 5:30 pm and heading to the meeting via DOT’s proud Sunset Blvd.
