Thank you for pulling us 4 cyclists over tonight and for giving us a lecture on safe left turns.
Thank you for letting us know that you know CVC 21202.
Thank you for making the streets safer for us cyclists by pulling us over for impeding traffic.
Thank you for taking your time and standing in the cold night with us chatting about our safety on the road, while 4 patrol cars and one helicopter surrounded us. I felt reeeeeeally safe and I reeeeeelly felt that our resources were well put to use.
Thank you for making the Bicyclist Bill of Rights so relevant to me this evening, especially section 3 and 4.
3) Cyclist have the right to the full support of educated law enforcement.
4) Cyclists have the right to the full support of our judicial system and the right to expect that those who endanger, injure or kill cyclists be dealt with to the full extent of the law.
Thank you for ignoring the dangerous driver who accelerated towards the red light and at the four cyclists executing a vehicular left turn and in control of the lane. With three stripes on your shoulder, a badge on your chest and a gun on your hip, 3 squad cars as backup and a helicoptor overhead, it must have felt much safer to let the motorist drive away so you could lecture four cyclists.
Thank you, Sgt. for your courage, for your support and for your involvement in the community.
But, most of all, thank you making sure that we are firmly convinced now that cyclists in Los Angeles need a Bicyclist Bill of Rights.
p.s. Here’s a copy so you can read along with us. Remember, we have the right to educated law enforcement. Start studying!

I had a similar experience heading up towards Los Feliz Blvd. A car almost accelerated right into me from behind and I’m the one who got pulled over. I got a lecture about how riding in the street will get me killed. Meanwhile, the driver sped away to terrorize cyclists another day.
