If you’re out and about today and see parks in parking spaces, there is a good explanation for it. Today is Park(ing) Day all over the world, where people convert parks for cars into parks for people.
Park(ing) Day started with a group of cyclists in San Francisco in 2005 and within a year it grew into a worldwide event. Los Angeles cought on the idea and has today, in it’s first year, 40 parks from Long Beach to the Valley, and from Santa Monica to Downtown.
If you would like to visit a park in your area, you can download a map here and a list of parks by area here.
